I frequently have conversations that begin like this:

Me: Hi, I'm a sociocultural and linguistic anthropologist. 

Most people: Oh! Wait, what does that mean? 

Me: It means I'm a deep listener, a teacher, a storyteller, a writer, a researcher, and a facilitator. It also means I'm just a little eccentric in how I see the world. 

But anthropology is all about making what you thought was familiar a little bit strange, and what was strange a little more familiar...
